THE CLASSIC SHAKER KITCHEN

Case study: Painted classic Shaker kitchen

Classic Shaker kitchen

The Shakers were a religious movement founded in the late 18th Century in New York State and were famous for their clean and profoundly simple furniture. The look we have created in this kitchen is simple in essence, and lends itself to a simple overall scheme in keeping with the Shaker way.

Our client wanted their kitchen to look ‘modern’ with an air of utilitarian living. We therefore opted for a simple and classic style with complementary finishes and used soothing tones of blue and grey. This kitchen has achieved a real feeling of authenticity, by keeping the original oak butchers block in the island; it feels as if it has been there for years.

On paper this would read as a traditional kitchen with painted shaker style doors and a large Falcon range cooker set into an over canopy feature. But in reality we’ve taken all of these elements & brought them up to date with the choice of pale grey and blue paint colours, centaurus grey granite worktops, funky bar stools & pendant lights – resulting in this wonderful classic Shaker kitchen.
